Set Up Outlook 2002

Setting up Microsoft Outlook 2002 for your Mike’s Technology Group PC.
Update your current setting with new security settings.

- see the important check box on step 5.
Microsoft Outlook 2002 is part of Microsoft Office XP, and is sometimes referred to incorrectly as Microsoft Outlook XP.

NOTE: Microsoft Outlook should not be confused with Microsoft Outlook Express. Outlook is included with Microsoft Office, where Outlook Express is included with Internet Explorer.

To begin, launch Microsoft Outlook 2002 http://mikes.net/OutlookExpressDetail.htm

Configure a new account in Outlook 2002

1. On the toolbar Click on Tools

Click on E-mail Accounts



3. Click on the Add New Accounts radio button and then click Next.



4. Click the Pop3 radio button and click Next.



5. Complete each field based on your email login information. Enter the name you would like to appear on your emails in the field marked “Your Name”. Enter your full Mike’s Technology Group email address in the E-mail Address field. Enter your full Mike’s Technology Group email address in the User Name field (example: username@mikes.net). Enter your password in the appropriate box. Your Incoming mail server should be pop3.mikes.net and your Outgoing mail server should be smtp.mikes.net.



Important: You must click the More Settings… tab. On the following window click the Outgoing Server tab and you will see this window Make sure the “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” box is checked.

 

6. Click on OK



6. Once your information is entered correctly, click on the Test Account Settings button. If all settings are correct, you will see:



If there are errors, go back through steps 1 through 6 to correct them.

7. Click on Close.

9. Click on Finish

To verify or modify an existing E-mail account in Outlook 2002 to use your Mikes.net email account.

1. On the toolbar Click on Tools



2. Click on E-mail Accounts

Click on View or change existing e-mail accounts and click Next




4. Highlight the email account you wish to view and click on Change



5. Complete each field based on your email login information. Enter the name you would like to appear on your emails in the field marked “Your Name”. Enter your full Mike’s Technology Group email address in the E-mail Address field. Enter your full Mike’s Technology Group email address in the User Name field (example: username@mikes.net). Enter your password in the appropriate box. Your Incoming mail server should be pop3.mikes.net and your Outgoing mail server should be smtp.mikes.net.



6. Click on More Settings. Now click on the Outgoing Server tab. The box next to “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” box must be checked as shown below.



7. Click on OK

8. Click on Test Account settings to verify any changes you have made.
